Le Mas de la Plume d'Ange

A few minutes from Grignan, and surrounded by vines and lavender, the Farmhouse is set in 10 acres of grounds.

Its name comes from the rose bush 'Rosa Plume d'Ange', referring to the outstanding collection of ancient roses grown in Grignan. 'Plume' comes from the pen used to write Madame de Sévigné's letters. With a more personal touch, 'Ange' is the angel we are all so fond of.

In the heart of Drôme Provençale, Grignan and its castle, famous because Madame de Sévigné wrote her letters there, is set in spectacular scenery that has been exploited over the years and where vines, lavender and truffles vie for space in the forests of small oak trees and bushes.

When you reach Grignan, you know you're in Provence, because of the sun, its special light, its scents and flavours. The fortified castle perched on a rock, the local villages and medieval chapels are all, part of our magnificent heritage.

The landscape abounds with wines, truffles, honey and olives.

This is the perfect place for a break where you can relax, play golf, go climbing or hiking. There are numerous cultural events including the Epistolary Festival in memory of Madame to Sévigné, the Fêtes Nocturnes at Grignan Castle and, close by, the Festivals in Avignon, Aix en Provence and Orange.

When in full bloom, a magnificent collection of ancient roses drape over the walls of the fortified medieval town, tucked below the castle.

Roughly 400 rose bushes of over 150 varieties. As you walk through the village, you can enjoy an incredible variety of shapes, colours and scents; 400 rose bushes with a range of 150 different types.
